Estamos oficialmente na Holiday Season e no post de hoje vamos mergulhar no espírito natalino e falar sobre os vocábulos mais populares durante o período natalino, além de algumas músicas temáticas desta data tão comemorada ao redor do mundo (e uma recomendação especial no final)! Let 's go!

Aqui estão algumas palavras que você frequentemente vai encontrar nesta época do ano:

Candy cane: bengala de doce

Chimney: chaminé

Carols: cânticos de natal; consiste em grupos de pessoas que vão de porta em porta ou se reúnem em pontos da cidade para cantar músicas natalinas.

Christmas tree: árvore de Natal

Christmas lights: luzes de Natal, pisca-pisca.

Christmas Eve: véspera de Natal

Christmas spirit: espírito natalino

Christmas morning: manhã de Natal; importante momento da cultura norte-americana, geralmente é quando acontece a troca de presentes.

Mistletoe: visco; nos Estados Unidos existe uma tradição de que qualquer pessoa que esteja embaixo do pé de visco recebe um beijo;

Christmas sweater: suéter natalino; tradição familiar em que todos da casa colocam suéter de lã customizado para passar o Natal.

Na música de Bobby Helms, a expressão “Jingle Bell” é repetida várias vezes durante a música e em português ela significaria algo como “bate o sino” ou “toca o sino”. A música fala sobre o início do período natalino e ficou mundialmente conhecida depois de aparecer no filme “Mean Girls” (“Meninas Malvadas”), em que as personagens principais fazem uma apresentação de natal com a canção.

Nos Estados Unidos, um personagem muito conhecido na época do Natal é o Grinch, já ouviu falar dele? Para esse Natal, a recomendação de filme vai ser duas versões de um conto clássico, check it ou!

Criado por Dr. Seuss em 1957, no conto clássico “How Grinch Stole the Christmas”, o Grinch é um ser verde e amargurado que tenta estragar o Natal da cidade de Quemlândia mas acaba se rendendo ao espírito solidário natalino. Em 2000, o conto ganhou sua primeira adaptação ao cinema, com Jim Carrey vivendo o mesquinho personagem. Em 2018 foi lançada a adaptação animada do conto, que revigorou o personagem no imaginário das pessoas.

Em países como Estados Unidos, Canadá e Reino Unido é comum chamar pessoas que não gostam do Natal de Grinch, remetendo ao personagem.
